Senior Partner Awarded MBE

Jonathan Wright, Senior Partner was awarded an MBE in the New Years Honour’s list in 2009 for this continuous support and work within the local community. These community projects include:

Age Concern
Jonathan became a Trustee of Age Concern in Bradford in 1988 following a period when he had been instructed professionally to deal with a shop acquisition on behalf of the organisation.

Jonathan became Chair of Age Concern Bradford and District in 1991 a position he still holds. As Chair, Jonathan became involved in the regional activities of the Age Concern movement.  In 1995 Jonathan was elected as a Trustee of Age Concern England, a position he held until July 2002. During this time Jonathan chaired the sub group, which revised the constitution for Age Concern England and was part of the Task Group, which prepared the way for the creation of the Age Concern Federation.

In 2004 Jonathan was elected by the Federation to be Chair of the Disputes and Appeals Committee (and a non voting ex officio member of the Business Committee of the Federation) a position still held by Jonathan.

WW Spooner Charitable Trust
In 1998 Jonathan became a Trustee of this small charitable Trust founded by William Spooner deceased. The trust operates in Ilkley, Bradford and West Yorkshire and deals with applications from diverse organisations and individuals for assistance.

Viscount Mountgarret House of Rest Trust.
This is a small Trust, which operates in Bradford and receives applications for assistance from various sources in Bradford. Jonathan has been Chair since 1996.

Goitside Regeneration Partnership /Development Trust.
Jonathan has been the Chair of the Partnership since it was established in 1998.  The Goitside is a traditional industrial area stretching northwest from the centre of Bradford Centre.  As with so many inner city areas it has been in decline for several years and suffers from depressed property values, dereliction and lack of investment.

The Partnership was formed just over ten years ago by representatives from local businesses whose intent was to reverse the decline so that the area can contribute to the regeneration of central Bradford.

The Goitside master plan was commissioned by the Partnership in October 2001 with a view to formulating a vision for the area which would stimulate future investment and regeneration.

The Partnership’s aspiration is to reverse and overcome the problems which currently beset the area ranging from inappropriate anti-social activities, economic obsolescent buildings in oversupply, poor environmental quality, poor infrastructure, low quality housing and severance from the town centre.

The Development Trust was established in 2006 to take over the work of the Partnership and to develop a more formal entity with a view to seeking funding to employ staff to progress the objectives of the Trust.

Diabetes UK (Airedale) Group
Jonathan has been involved with Diabetes UK since 1978 through membership of the Airedale Group which Jonathan has chaired for over 20 years.
